GENDO 48
Terms & Conditions
Applies to every edition of the Competition
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern participation in GENDO 48 (the “Competition”), organised by Gendo AI Ltd (“Gendo”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They apply to every edition of the Competition. Edition-specific details — the brief, site or theme, dates, prize structure, judging criteria and any additional design rules — are published in the competition brief and on the competition page for that edition, and form part of these Terms. By registering or participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.Eligibility
1.1 The Competition is open globally to individuals aged 18 years or over at the time of entry.
1.2 Entries may be submitted by:
- Individuals (solo participants), or
- Teams of up to 5 participants
1.3 Where a team submits:
- All members must be listed at the point of submission
- All members must have a registered Gendo account before the brief is released, in order to receive Studio access
1.4 Solo participants are fully eligible for all prizes and will be treated as a “team of one” for all Competition purposes.
1.5 Employees of Gendo and its affiliates may not participate in the Competition.
1.6 Members of the judging panel may not enter the Competition. Where a judge has a personal or professional connection to an entry, they will recuse themselves from scoring it.
2.Competition Format
2.1 The Competition runs across a fixed competition window published on the competition page. Registered entrants receive a brief and Starter Pack at the published brief-drop time, and submit by the published deadline. No extensions.
2.2 Submissions must be developed and presented on the Gendo platform using a live collaborative canvas.
2.3 Entry is free.
2.4 You must register for the competition. Registered entrants receive full Gendo Studio access, unlimited and unrestricted, for the duration of the Competition window.
2.5 Participants will receive a Starter Pack, which may include 3D models, drawings, photography and reference materials. These are provided solely for use within the Competition.
2.6 The brief-drop time, submission deadline, judging period and announcement date are published in the competition brief and on the competition page. Those dates are the single source of truth and form part of these Terms. All times are stated in UK time, with the applicable timezone shown.
3.Submission Requirements
3.1 Each team may submit one (1) entry only.
3.2 Submissions must:
- Be a valid Gendo board URL
- Be submitted via the official competition form before the deadline
3.3 Each board must contain:
- A working area evidencing the design process
- A final proposal that is clearly identifiable as such
- Any further content, format or deliverable requirements set out in the brief for that edition
3.4 Submissions:
- Must remain accessible to Gendo and the judging panel from the deadline until the winners are announced. A board that cannot be viewed cannot be assessed
- Are assessed as they stand at the published deadline. Gendo will record the state of each submitted board at the deadline
- Any work added after the deadline will not be assessed
3.5 Failure to meet these requirements may result in disqualification.
4.Design Rules & Disqualification
4.1 All entries must comply with the design rules set out in the brief for that edition. Where the brief identifies a protected element, constraint or site condition, it may not be removed, relocated, buried or concealed.
4.2 The Gendo canvas must be the primary site of development. External modelling, drafting and rendering tools may be used as inputs, and where they are, that work should be evidenced in the working area.
4.3 The following may result in disqualification:
- Submitting work for which no development process is evidenced on the canvas
- Multiple submissions per team
- Plagiarism or use of unlicensed third-party materials
- Breach of the design rules set out in the brief
- Offensive, unlawful or inappropriate content
4.4 Gendo reserves the right to disqualify entries at its discretion where rules are breached.
5.Judging & Results
5.1 Submissions will be evaluated in two stages: an internal shortlist review by the Gendo team, followed by scoring by a judging panel appointed by Gendo.
5.2 Entries are scored against the judging criteria and weightings published in the competition brief and on the competition page.
5.3 All criteria are assessed together. An entry cannot succeed on imagery alone, nor on process alone.
5.4 All decisions are final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
6.Prizes
6.1 The prizes, prize tiers and their contents are as published in the competition brief and on the competition page for that edition.
6.2 Prizes are:
- Awarded per team
- Non-transferable
- Not exchangeable
6.3 The number of awards made in each tier is at Gendo's discretion.
6.4 Gendo reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value if necessary, and to withhold an award in any tier where the standard of entries does not merit it.
7.People’s Choice Award
7.1 Where an edition includes a People’s Choice award, the winner is determined based on social engagement linked to submissions using:
- The Competition hashtags published in the brief
- A valid board link
7.2 Gendo reserves the right to:
- Review engagement authenticity
- Disqualify entries using artificial or manipulated engagement
8.Intellectual Property
8.1 Entrants retain ownership of their work.
8.2 By entering, participants grant Gendo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- Publish, display and distribute submissions
- Use entries for marketing, press and promotional purposes
- Archive entries publicly
8.3 Gendo will credit teams where reasonably possible.
9.Use of Platform
9.1 Participants must use the Gendo platform in accordance with its terms of service.
9.2 Misuse of the platform, including attempts to exploit systems or upload harmful content, may result in removal from the Competition.
10.Starter Pack & Third-Party Materials
10.1 All Competition materials provided by Gendo are:
- For Competition use only
- Not for resale, redistribution or commercial use
10.2 Participants are responsible for ensuring that any additional materials used:
- Are original or properly licensed
- Do not infringe third-party rights
11.Prize Payment & Team Lead Responsibility
11.1 Each entry must nominate one (1) team lead at submission. For solo participants, the entrant is automatically the team lead.
11.2 The team lead will act as the sole point of contact for all Competition and prize-related communication.
11.3 If a team wins:
- Gendo will contact the team lead using provided details
- The team lead must respond within 7 days to confirm acceptance and provide payment details
- Where no response is received within 7 days, Gendo may reallocate the award
11.4 Prize money will:
- Be paid in full to the team lead only
- Be issued via bank transfer within 30 days of confirmation and receipt of valid payment details
11.5 Gendo is not responsible for distributing prize money between team members.
11.6 The team lead is solely responsible for:
- Allocating funds among team members
- Handling any disputes related to distribution
11.7 By entering, all team members agree to:
- The nominated team lead receiving prize funds on behalf of the team
- The team lead’s authority over distribution
12.Tax Responsibility
12.1 All prizes are awarded gross, without tax deduction.
12.2 Winners are solely responsible for:
- Any applicable taxes, duties or levies
- Reporting prize income in their jurisdiction
12.3 Gendo accepts no liability for any tax obligations or related consequences.
13.Liability
13.1 Gendo is not responsible for:
- Technical failures or platform downtime
- Lost, incomplete or late submissions
- Any indirect or consequential losses
13.2 Participation is at the entrant’s own risk.
14.Data & Privacy
14.1 Participant data will be used to:
- Administer the Competition
- Communicate with entrants
14.2 By entering, participants agree that their name or team name, country and submitted board may be published by Gendo in connection with the Competition results and archive.
14.3 Data will be handled in accordance with Gendo’s Privacy Policy.
15.Modification & Cancellation
15.1 Gendo reserves the right to:
- Modify these Terms
- Adjust timelines
- Cancel or suspend the Competition
where necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.
15.2 Material changes will be notified by email to registered entrants.
16.Site & Non-Affiliation
16.1 Where a brief refers to a real location, all proposals are speculative academic exercises. No entry is submitted to, considered by, or connected with any landowner, land manager or public authority responsible for the site.
16.2 The Competition is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any landowner, land manager, national park authority, local authority, public body or agency connected with the site, unless expressly stated in the brief for that edition.
16.3 Entrants must not visit, alter or install anything at the site in connection with the Competition.
17.Governing Law
17.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
17.2 Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of UK courts.
18.Acceptance
By registering for or participating in the Competition, entrants confirm they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms.
